September 8th 2009 - Jeff Gordon Message – Canadian Motor Speedway Public Meeting

“Ladies and Gentlemen, I would like to thank each and every one of you for coming out tonight.  I wish I could be there as the Canadian Motor Speedway takes this very important step towards becoming a reality. I would also like to say how excited that I am to be part of the project team.  I can tell you that the group has left no stone unturned in assembling a first class team (and site) to fulfill its vision.

Being associated with this innovative development is a point of pride for me personally, not just because the facility is the first Speedway of its kind in Canada, but also because of the great fan support that I have received from North of the border over the course of my career. I feel strongly that the distinctive layout of the Speedway (and road-course) presents the future of motorsports as it caters directly to the needs of the fans and the competitors.

As the Speedway plan evolved the team has worked tirelessly behind-the-scenes to attract uses that would be beneficial to the racetrack, as well as the community as a whole.  Clearly, combining the best of motorsports with high level research and development within a post-secondary education framework does just that. I know the team feels satisfaction in knowing that the partnership with McMaster will make a great contribution to Fort Erie and the Niagara Region for years to come.
We are looking forward to seeing the results of the years of investment and hard work on the Canadian Motor Speedway. And, I am hopeful that we’re getting very close to the ‘green flag’ and that we can move forward with building one of the most unique motorsports entertainment complexes in North America, and perhaps the World.

Thank you, Jeff Gordon."
